Have a browse through the messages at
http://www.siteware.ch/webresources/forum/chatmachine/messages/533.html
they may help you out!

Unsolicited emails purporting to come from Microsoft are bogus and as
a general rule of thumb you should NOT touch any attachment with a
bargepole! At the very least you should be running a virus checker of
which there are many good ones (I use F-secure from
http://www.f-secure.com/)

A useful program is MailWasher
http://www.mailwasher.net/
this is a free program that allows you to examine the contents of your
mailbox before downloading the mail (and any potential virus) onto
your computer. There is a facility in it that allows you to get the
email origins to be compared against lists of spammers and those that
are recognised to be flagged as such which saves you the job of
worrying that they might be legitimate.

If you are using XP SP1a Java is not installed by default and you may
like to get it from
http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp

Problems which are well known are usually documented on tech websites
and a search engine such as Google
www.google.com
will generally give you good results providing you chose your keywords
carefully!
