Following on from my original thread here...

http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...&p=1&tid=cec8d70f-6970-4098-8a3c-f8ea3ce65c8b

I contacted the manufactuer of the computer and they sent me a new power
supply unit.

This did not come in it's own packaging and was in an open antustaic bag
with a bit off foam and bubble wrap around it. Looked new, but I was
surprised not to see it in it's own packaging.

Installed the new PSU and still ahve the same problem as discribed in my
original thread.

Have tested the following on the new PSU..

Purple - 4.95v
Green - 1.01v off/0.14v on
Grey - 0.97v on
Orange - 3.26v
Red - 5.02v
Yellow - 11.64v

Have I been sent a BAD PSU?

Kevin

Update.

I got hold of another mobo and CPU. Swapped them over and everything worked.
I then tried the original CPU and nothing again. So It looks like I need to
replace the CPU.
Although looks like the CPU for definite. Is there any other way of checking
a CPU just to make sure?

Ok, to summarise..

If you suspect that the readings are giving you failed power supply
indications, make sure it ISN'T the CPU. Swap it with another just to make
sure before you go and buy another PSU.
Warning signs of a CPU that has failed? NONE!! It looks like a power problem.

Hope this helps someone.
