I am trying to enable the DDE hook between an old
application and Word 97. The keyboard "hook" or "hotkey"
has worked between the application and various word
processing programs (Write, AmiPro, Word, Word 97) under
3.1, Win 95, Win 98, but never under XP. I have enabled the
two DDE lines in Control Panel > Admin Tools > Services,
but still no luck. How does XP handle the older DDE links?

They went to a lot of effort to make sure it works. But I don't understand the hotkey part. Does it use a vxd or 386 type file?

Sorry, "hotkey" probably isn't the right term. When I type
"Shift-Ctrl-S" in Word, the Bible program pops a window up
in Word to ask for the verse(s) that I want to paste into
Word. I don't know how it works, other than the Bible
program has an option to turn on the "keyboard hook" for
DDE. This program dates to around 1992 or so.

What versions of word and windows has it worked on. In Word look at Tools - Macros - Macro and see what ones you have.

It has worked under 3.1 with AmiPro (or whatever Lotus's
prior WP was). Under Win 95 with Word for Windows, AmiPro,
and Word97. Under Win98 and ME, it has worked with Word97.
Macros do not show anything related to the Bible program.

Is there a place where "file properties" have a block to
enable DDE?
