Is there a solution to this problem?
Event Type: Error
Event Source: DCOM
Event Category: None
Event ID: 10005
Date: 9/6/2003
Time: 7:01:52 PM

Description:
DCOM got error "The service database is locked. " attempting to start
the service netman with arguments "" in order to run
the server:

basically, I understamd this is a benign error message as
DCOM has already been started by another application, but
it still spends some time holding the machine up waiting
for somethign to happen after i've logged in> I have seen
this error message posted on numerous newgroups, but have
yet seen a satisfactory reply.

I am running Windows XP Home on a Compaq Presario S3750UK
with an Audigy2 Soundcard and a WinFast A310 Graphics
Card (GeForce X5600 256Mb RAM). I have 1GB of memory,
although one module is DDR PC2700 and the other DDR
PC2100, but this shouldnt be a problem, as the problem
persists if I remove one or the other

Cheers

Did a search and found this article.

Error: "The service database is locked". One may get this error if an attempt is made to stop/start or otherwise perform some service-related tasks when a server has just started and the systems still performs some of the startup functions in the background thus keeping the services database locked. In this case just wait a couple of minutes for the system to finish its tasks. It could also be that a faulty service installation procedure "locked" the database and in this case a reboot may help
Good luck.
