Do you have Word 2007? If so (and your recipients have neither Office 2007
nor the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack), you will need to save your
documents in Word 97-2003 format.

Are you using Word 2007 and those receiving the attachments are using another
version? You can save in version 2003. Tell those receiving your attachments
to download the compatability pack from Microsoft.
