Lata,
Have you taken a look at ADSIEdit to confirm that the DC is there. Take a
look at the following MSKB Article ( Do not panic! I know that it is for
removing a DC from the AD after an unsuccessful dcpromo. I am suggesting
that you look at this article because it spells out nicely where things are
for you..... ):
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=216498
Clearly, do not click on anything and select 'Delete'.
Does this DC show up in your ADUC MMC under the Domain Controllers
Organizational Unit? What do you see in there? Opps, sorry! ADUC is the
Active Directory Users and Computers MMC in the Administrative Tools.
Do you have multiple Sites in your environment or is this a single Site
environment?
These are just a couple of quick things to look for.
HTH,
Cary
PS..In order to make use of ADSIEdit you would have to install the Support
Tools. The Support Tools can be found in two places: on the WIN2000 Server
CD as well as on the WIN2000 Service Pack CD in the Support | Tools folder.
Naturally, you can download them from the MS website at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads .
