In folder options I have accidently changed the .dbx file extension so that
it is opening with Adobe Reader 7.0. I saved all by contacts and messages
from outlook express 6.0 and used add/remove programs to remove it. I then
shut down, restarted and still my .dbx files are associated with Adobe. I
would like to correct this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Why bother? If OE is removed then you won't have any more
..dbx files on your system!

That's fine - OE does NOT depend on existing file associations.
BTW - if you have further OE questions then you should post
them in a dedicated OE newsgroup.

Thank you both for your time. I have learned something here today and will
certainly use it.

There's nothing to correct. OE doesn't care what application may be
assigned "Open with" function for DBX files (and you wouldn't be able to get
anything really useful by opening a DBX file anyway).
