Is there anyone on the face of the earth who uses the Day Timer pim
application? I have a question, and the company no longer supports it.

Thanks.

Well, I'm sure someone does. I do not however. I do, on the other hand,
suggest that you just ask your question (doing so here is fine I should
think) and will likely get you a better response than asking if anyone still
uses it. So, no, I don't use it but I'll save someone else the trouble and
ask what your question is?

Who knows? Maybe one of us will know the answer.

Good idea!

I really like Day Timer 98. It's a great program. The problem is that I
can't get anything to print. By clicking on any of the prompts to print,
I'm supposed to get a dialog box, but nothing ever happens. Everything
else works just fine.

Any ideas? I used an earlier version of the program before installing
this one, so I'm familiar with how it's supposed to work. And the manual
tells you that the print dialog box appears when you go to print anything.

Thanks.

Find the .exe file where you installed it to, right click it, select
properties, click the compatibility tab, and see if you can get it to print
with it set to run in compatibility mode for Windows 98.

Tried it, didn't work.

Thanks for the hint. Anyone else have an idea, I'd really appreciate the
help.

Just a guess.
Many programs require that you actually set up a printer. Look for a setup
or option menu in the program where you can select a printer to use.

Already looked for that -- nothing here to set up a printer. The previous
version did have such an option, but there's nothing here to help out with
that.

Very odd.

Thanks for the suggestion.

long shot: try setting your default printer to a different printer, then
reset it back to the one you really want.

Well, do you have a default printer set? LOL Okay, so we're all grasping at
straws but it's something to check at least. Make sure you have one set as
the default from the printer applet in the control panel.

Jeff,

I use DTO98. I have it set for Windows 95 compatibility mode. Also, with the
program opened, you should find a print command under the "file" menu. What
happens when you click on that?? Do you have a database loaded when you
select the print command?

Yup, got the default printer set correctly.

Wow, another user!

Yes, I have a database open. Yes, it's set to Win95 compatibility mode.
When I click on print, nothing happens at all. Same thing when I try to
print from any screen.

Weird.

Well, the only thing I can think of is a bad install. Have you uninstalled,
removed any registry entries, directories, etc., and then reinstalled to see
if you get the print screen? Move your database before you uninstall so you
don't lose any data.

See if that helps. I'm not sure I installed the program from disk or just
copied the prior install from my old system, so I can't say for sure that
your install went bad and that's why you're having the problem. All three of
my printer show up on my print screen and two of them were connected to my
system after DTO98 was installed, so it seems to me that something didn't
get installed properly on your system.

Let me know what happens.

Oh well, it's too bad. I really did like the program.

A quick word here about the previous version: I decided to upgrade to DT98
because the previous version, 2.0, was driving me nuts with printing
envelopes. I have several printers installed. When I try to print an
envelope, it defaults to the fax driver, rather than my inkjet printer.
The inkjet printer is the system default printer. I could find no way to
change the printer for printing envelopes.

Thanks for the good ideas. Perhaps I'll stumble on something that will
fix the problem.
