Somewhere I lost the date in the time area. The day of the week shows but
not the date. What can I do? I've gone to date and time set but that
appears to be to change the format of the date. I am missing the date yet
when I click on the page, the date in the box is correct.
I appreciate any info or help.

In XP, the taskbar clock will show up to three lines of information: the
time, the date, and the day of the week. How much it displays is based on
how "wide" you have the taskbar. If you unlock the taskbar and resize it to
be 2x the normal height, you will see all three sets of date-time information
(if you use XP themes). If you use classic display (which resembles the UI
style of Windows 9x/2k), you'll only see two lines of date-time information
there (because without themes, the effective height of the taskbar is just
slightly too short to accomodate all three lines in the clock area.)

Thanks. But how do I unlock the task bar to resize? I am new to this. I
did not consciously reset it?

Rt-clk an empty space in it. U can drag-n-drop it on rt or
left side 2- works on left 4 me.

Any advise given is my attempt to show appreciation for all
the excellent help I've received here but I'm no MVP so it
may only apply NUGS (Normally, Usually, Generally, Sometimes :)

No prob. Just right-click the clock and un-check "Lock the Taskbar" which
will let you drag the top to resize it.

You can change the windows themes in the Display Properties (in control
panel) on the Appearance tab.
