Date and time error

I noticed on my brother computer after all the patch
updates that the date and time display cant be changed to
show the date and time differently. I show both the time
and am or pm but below it there is also the day
like "Thursday" is displayed below it? I gone through
control panel and tried to change it to just to show the
time and only am or pm setting but it wont change? What
other changes can I do to remedy this problem? He has XP
pro SP1 and latest patches.

Your taskbar is set to two lines, drag it back down to one
line to only show time OR up to three lines to show time,day
and date.

I done those steps but was unable to remove the name of
the day below the clock and also went through the control
panel to fingure out how that setting came to be about.
Even following the same clock setup on my computer
settings to my brother's computer didnt clear up the
settings on his...
