dataloss during cut paste operation

Hi,
I lost my data in windows 2000 server during transferring data from one
partion to onther partition. i cut and paste on onther partition. how can i
recover my data back. can some expalin normally what happand during cut n
paste operaton.

i dind take any backup for this files becoz its still new data , and i want
to move tham for back up. plz replay me if u have any idia about waht
happand during whem we cut data ( i mean system wher save it temporary)

Cut goes to memory, and DELETES the original data, PASTE puts contents
to new location. If there is no backup and but the files existed, you
may try some 3rd party "undelete" program. If there has been much time
since this occured, file space is likely been over written. In future I
strongly suggest COPY, PASTE, DELETE.
