Database won't open from My Documents window

I have a database I've been using accessed from a shortcut on the desktop.
It quit responding from the shortcut. I checked the properties and
everything seemed fine, but it wouldn't open. The My Documents window shows
the large "mdb" file and also another 1 kb file of the same name with a "ldb"
extension. I tried deleting this "ldb" file, but got an error message saying
the program was in use by another person, which is not possible. However, I
can open the program through the recent documents in Access. Any thoughts as
to what the problem is or how to correct it?

Is this a shared database? Is the database located on just your
personal computer or on a LAN? Have you tried rebooting your computer
(assuming it is on your personal computer)?
 
I rebooted my computer and the shortcut is working. I didn't think about
restarting, but it worked! Thanks for your help.
