I have a read-only database that was created in Ms Access
97 and it will not open in Access 2002. I am aware that
there were big changes made in Access 2002. What I need
to obtain from this old database are the reports.

I would like to know if I can load Access 97 program on
an XP workstation without it affecting Access 2002?

Thank you for your assistance.

You should be able to open, and run the 97 database with a2002.

I am not sure why you can't, but that is not normal.

a2002 can run a a97, and can also convert it (you have a choice).

Perhaps you are talking about a mde file...in that case, you can NOT convert
the forms, and have to go to the original mdb file.

You most certainly can install 97 (don't use the default directory), but I
don't think you need to, as a2002 should be able to open and read the 97
file. Since a2002 can't read this file...then I don't see why a97 would read
the file? (just trying to save you the trouble of insalling 97, and then
finding out it don't read the file either. My spider sense tells me some
other problem exists here?).
