Data Validation Pivot Table

I have made a dynamic name range (with OFFSET) that refers
to a pivot table that is linked to an external (FoxPro)
datasource. When I use this name in data validation, I get
the usual drop-down list and this works fine.

However, when I manually enter data I always get the error
message that my value is not valid, even thought the value
I entered is available in the drop-down list.

Does anyone know if it is possible to solve this without
making an extra table that refers to the pivot table?

It might be that the data imported from your Source contains trailing
spaces.....
You should be able to get around the manual entry issue by clicking on the
Error Alert tab of the Data Validation dialogue, and selecting the Warning
or Information Style.

Thanks, but if I do that, incorrect data can be entered. I
don't want that.
