Data Validation List

I have a data>validation>list of choices in a protected sheet (Excel 2000).
Is there a way to type the first letter of a choice in that list that would
automatically locate words beginning with that first letter instead of having
to scroll down the whole list?
 
In validation list you will not get, if you use "Combo Box" (Control Toolbox)
its possible
