Data Validation Input Message Box too small

I have entered a message in the box but not all of it appears when the cursor
is placed on the cell. How can I enlarge the box to view the entire contents?
I have tried adding spaces <ENTER> with no success.
 
i have entered large amounts of text into a data validation input
message box, with all of it showing (including returns). are you sure
you're not typing in the one-line "title" box? instead of the multi-
line "input message" box?

The input message can be up to 255 characters, but will only display
about 12 rows of text. If you have too many line breaks, that might be
the problem.
There's no way to adjust the size of the input message box.
Perhaps you could add a comment to the cell, and put the text there.
