Data Validation - copy > paste > special problem

I have set up an Excel sheet that requires validation in one column
(validation from list).

If a user tries to type in a disallowed value, then the error message box
appears, as it should. But a user can still copy a disallowed value from
another Excel column, do a 'paste special' into the validated cell, and Excel
will allow that value into the cell, even though that value is not on the
allowed "List".

Am I missing something? Thanks in advance for your help.

You may get an answer if you posted to an Excel forum or Newsgroup.
FrontPage (this newsgroup) users tend to avoid Excel for web building,
where they can.
 
My mistake! Clicked wrong software and didn't notice till I had hit the
'Post' button. Have posted in Excel section. Still no answer there, though.
We'll see...
