After sorting my data with a header row, when I try to do a sub-total Excel
keeps defaulting to the first row of data instead of the header row to make
selection for subtotalling. How do I correct this?

Select the header row along with the data

Thanks Lady Layla...that did work. But normally you don't have to highlight
the entire data range...is this just a quirk in Excel. Never had it happen
before.

Glad it worked -- Excel seems to be inconsistant with what it can and cant
do -- I stopped trying to figure out why a long time ago
