Reformation is not going to do anything to reduce popups. For that you
need software that stops them.

Ad-aware does not block popups. Ad-watch has that feature if you
activate it.

Ad-aware only cleans up spyware and Data miners, it does not stop them
to begin with. Ad-watch does stop some, however so far, I have not found it
very successful.

Anyone else out there have some suggestions for stopping them to begin
with? Anyone have a different experience with Ad-watch? Maybe I am not
configuring it well.

BTW I am using other anti-popup software and it works almost 100%.

Data Miners is a name that Adaware uses for site advertising cookies. Theses
cookies are acquired when you visit web sites . They should not be on your
hard drive , but they are not harmful. I don't know of any pop up stopper
that will stop cookies. Jym

Hi Tony;
Try this , open IE , go to Tools>internet options. Click on delete cookies.
Then on OK. Then click on Delete files and check box to delete all offline
content.Click on OK and OK.
That should clear internet cookies and etc.
However, that will not help your problem with a disabled toolbar and most
likely not help with your pop up problem.
To receive one on one assistance in removing parasites from your system you
could use the link provided below.

This is not the site I normally use , but since both those other sites are
currently unavailable, this is a good alternative.
To address your popup problem, currently I'm using the Google toolbar. It
does not stop all popups known to man, but it is working fine for me at this
time.
Hope this is helpful.

Using a hosts file blocks most of them. See:

http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

After loading the hosts file run adaware one more time to clean them out.

Hi Tony

- POPUP: I use the google-toolbar to stop pup-ups - because it doesn't just stop the pop-up, but it also allows you to turn-off the pop-up blocking on pages you want the pops to pop :

- COOKIES: to filter out unwanted cookies (or Data Miners if you want) I'm using CookieWall from AnalogX. It works like a "blacklist" and "friendlist" for cookies - the bad ones are automatically deleted..
You can find it under this address: http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/cookie.ht

drop a message, if it helped ;)
