We have a 6-pc p2p network in my office (using a variety of windows
versions). We have NEVER had this problem. My inclination would be to
investigate the user of pc b before worrying about abstruse network
problems.

Having said that, I take it that you are opening the excel workbook from
Excel rather than via a browser link? Bear in mind that browsers cache
objects and the browser settings determine whether it will look for a more
up to date version of the file rather than using the cached version. I am
not sure whether windows explorer works in a similar way for files on a lan.
