Hello,

I've encountered DEP problems before - especially using Pinnacle Studio with
an AMD chip running XP SP2.

Now it's not letting me look into innocuous folders such as MY VIDEOS
(containing nothing but videos I have edited myself) without closing it down.
Sometimes it even closes MY DOCUMENTS.

Is there a way I can disable DEP?

Or is that a can of worms which will do more harm than good?

Thanks

Many thanks, Mike. That looks as if it should do the trick.
I'm in the middle of a video edit so cannot do it now, but will try it
tonight before shutdown and report back - if my laptop ever starts up again,
of course!
Thanks again.
All strength, Sh.

Instead of shooting the messenger, it would be better to fix the source of
the trouble.

Thanks for reply, Jim. You're quite right. This problem lies with Pinnacle
(Studio 10) software. Any MPEGs which are produced by this software are
automatically blocked by DEP. I have contacted them before about this but
have not received any satisfaction - indeed, often received nothing.
However, I am going to contact them again and push this issue in the hope
that they may build/release a patch to fix this problem. (Widely suffered as
a trawl of goolgl/pinnacle/DEP will verify)
In the meantime, I may have to shoot the messenger, but hopefully just a
flesh wound rather than a fatal shot - ie I could switch it back on once the
software is resolved?
Thanks to you (both) for your replies. Very helpful indeed.
All strength to you! Sh
