I have a notebook with 107 GB of total disk space. I have noticed that my HD
only has 13GB available to my surprise...If I click properties on all the
visible directories within C:\ it shows me as having 38GB used...Yet, if I
click properties on drive C: it shows me 94GB used...

I have not been able to figure out where this data is located, how and/or why?

Please help!

JT,

Thank you very much! I will try this tonight...Still, I will leave this
issue open in the event someone has another day.

Again, I really appreciate your input.

Best regards,

JT,

One question...I looked at the site but it does NOT specify Vista as
supported...???

Please advise !

THANKS !

I noticed the same thing on my C disk. The "undocumented" space is taken up
by System Restore. That's where it's storing its restore points.

Theoretically, System Restore is only supposed to use up to 15% of a disk.
So if you try to save something to disk and there's no "documented"
available space, hopefully Vista is smart enough to reallocate outdated
restore points.

And when someone advertises software in a newsgroup, don't be so eager to
get whatever it is they're trying to sell you. They'll try to sell it to
you even if it's irrelevant to your situation.

Hi Motty,
It'll work on Vista. I'm running vista on my PC also and I didn't have any
issues installing or running it. However, when you launch it, it coudn't hurt
to right-click the shortcut and choose "run as administrator". Some inventory
type programs don't seem to run well without the proper rights to get through
UAC.

JT,

I thing that I have not been able to figure out. These programs work as far
as showing me 'what I already know.' In other words, they present the
directories that I can see, with the actual hard drive space utilized...But,
I have not been able to establish where over 50-60GB of data is residing.

In other words, the properties of my drive c:\ show a total used capacity of
over 80GB (I have cleaned up some) when the directories shown only take 30GB
capacity...

Let me know if you can come up with something.

THANKS,
