I run windows xp pro on a toshiba tecra M1 laptop. i have
a program called cyberscrub, which delets history,
cokies, etc... it finds this item location
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local
Settings\History\History.IE5\MSHist012004053020040531
which has a dat file there (index.dat file 32kb). i am
unable to delet it, is this file needed anyone know what
it is. thanks for any help..

Johno,

The Index.dat file is the Internet Explorer Index file. If you need to
delete it you can try to delete it by booting to a different user profile.
You might also try booting in Safe Mode.

The Index.dat file is necessary for Internet Explorer functionality, so it
will get recreated the next time it is needed - the next time you boot
into the profile in question and use Internet Explorer.
