What is dat file extensions..what does it mean....I had
valid files and now they are dat files and I can't open
them in the software that created them...

That's Baloney !

DAT files are typically information files about a
particular function (of XP or a program or a service
or . . .) that describe its use and limitations.

Windows Picture & Fax viewer is for graphics files (JPG,
BMP, GIF, etc.)

Go to control panel, folder options, file types and scroll down to DAT
highlight it and read. Then go to www.filext.com and read. Then go to
www.videohelp.com. Then do a google search. Then, if you don't know what
you're talking about don't reply to posts.

You are both right. Dats can be anything. So don't slag each other off. If emma gave details all could make an accurate diagnosis. But she wants to talk hypothetically.

I didn't like his 'that's baloney' response.
