dark pale center image in log on page background

Hi, I have XP HOME in my SONY VAIO z1 notebook, and when I log on I notice a darker square image with a pale center, 3 inches size at least, in the upper left corner of my display (blue backgrund colour). It seems to go away then, i mean it is not there in the desktop background. What is it? Anyone see that before? How can I fix it?

You can try going to Start > Run > msconfig
startup tab
and disable all items, reboot and see if the square is there, if not,
try enabling items one or two at a time until you find the program
that causes this.
