dark imaging monitor

My monitor is showing a hard to view, dark screen. I already went to my settings to adjust contrast, gamma, and brightness. I also updated my ati 9700 pro drivers. I know it is not the monitor since I have the new Samsung LCD which has a TV tuner. The brightness is fine when playing the TV. This was after loading an old DOS based game and a few new demos. I shut down the computer for the night and rebooted it the next morning to find the monitor hard to view.
 
LCD screens want to work in their native resolution. Check the resolution
you are using and make sure it is what the documentation suggests. And
could you use a larger font on your next post? This is very hard to read.
