I have Windows XP home edition, yesterday I downloaded SP2
and installed, after install, I got "buffer overrun has
been detected in explorer.exe, execution must be
terminated" (that might not be exactly the error message,
but pretty close. I then uninstalled SP2, everything in
the uninstall process went smooth. However, now when I
reboot and login to XP, the computer freezes after I enter
the password. I can boot into sasfe mode just fine, I am
at a loss what to do here. so any help or ideas would be
greatly appreciated. If I do have to reeinstall, is there
a way to just install OS? without damaging other files? or
having to install progs again?

THANK YOU FOR READING THIS AND ANY HELP YOU MAY PROVIDE!!!

1. Perform a "Repair Install".
2. Perform a Disk Cleanup.
3. Perform a Check Disk.
4. Disable your antivirus program.
5. Install SP2.
6. Perform a Defrag of the hard drive.
