Actually, the question is "what does your post mean"? It is
unintelligible. Please post back with exactly what the problem is, what
are the symptoms, what files, etc. I'm sorry, but your question is just
not clear enough to get an answer.

Don't Panic!

When I try to open a support file for Symantec from the
start menu, all programs, the status of the file is listed
as " damaged". What does a damaged file mean?

Hi

A 'damaged' file means that is has probably been corrupted in some way - although I wouldn't put my complete trust in Symantec. Do you know the name of the 'damaged' file?

Try this:

Start>Run - then type in "sfc /scannow" - without the quotes. You may need to have your XP CD to hand. This will replace any corrupted system files.

does'nt work for me and I don't have winxp home CD, it
came already installed with my pc. Any other ideas?
Thanks so much for trying to help me.

Based on your posts, I think that you have two choices: 1)call Symantec
tech support (and they are completely swamped right now because of the
Sobig.f virus) and see what they say; 2) have a good local computer
repair person (not a CompUSA/BestBuy type store) take a look. They'll
probably be able to get you all fixed up quickly.

Good luck,

Malke
