hi - "dac2avao" appears as a service in windows xp home edition but
with no dependencies or information in properties as to what it is or
does.

What type of service is it?

Probably some sort of malware. Unless you have run an older version of
RootkitRevealer.

Update your antivirus software and run a full system scan.

Update whatever anti-spyware applications that you have and run a full
system scan with each one.

Hope this helps. Let us know.

Where does it appear as a service task manager? Services manager? Some other
software? Do you use any Visiosonic Dac-2 Products. Run an antivirus and
spyware check with updated antivirus and spyware software and updated
definitions.

Disable the service.

Examibne the service for what is being loaded; a DLL, SYS or EXE file.

Please submit a sample of that loaded file to Virus Total --
http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html
The submission will then be tested against many different AV vendor's scanners.
That will give you an idea what it is and who recognizes it. In addition, unless told
otherwise, Virus Total will provide the sample to all participating vendors.

You can also submit a suspect, one at a time, via the following email URL...
mailto:[email protected]?subject=SCAN

When you get the report, please post back the exact results.
