Insert disks in D: drive (xp) and it won't read them. Hard boot doesn't
help. Instructs me to put a CD in the drive repeatedly.
Thanks,
Mart

The drive may be broken? Have you considered another drive or testing that
drive in another system if possible?

Look in Device manager -right click on your My Computer icon on the Desktop
and select Properties, Hardware, Device Manager. There should be a Yellow
Question mark against the Device. Look for an Error Code and adise here.

Also you will probably see an Error Report in the System log in Event
Viewer. Copy the report here.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools, Event
Viewer.
HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click
on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now
start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This
will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report complete with links
into the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event
Viewer.

Hope this helps.
