Jeff

I have a laptop that uses XP Home SP-2 (with Zone Alarm, AV software,
anti-spyware, etc.).

To protect some financial data (in case the laptop was stolen) I put them in
an encrypted file created by a product called Cryptainer (
www.cypherix.com ) which uses 448-bit Blowfish for its encryption.

How secure is this really? Am I just fooling myself or is this really secure
in case of theft?

Thanks.

it’s very secure. And it’s free too, the LE version. I use the
expensive commercial version (Cryptainer PE) and so does my company (a
Fortune 500 household name).
Try the free version first and upgrade to the commersial version
later. Before you by it, go to Deprice, Froogle, PriceGrabber,
Shopping.Com and similar sites. There are discounts for Cryptainer
available (I got mine from
http://www.deprice.com/cryptainerpe.htm )
