Anyone,
how does the little bugger that this software disposes of install?
I am running WinXP, and have had all the latest security updates for it,
including the latest build of Java VM. Yet despite this I have still managed
to get infected with this Trojan since that time (which apparently jumps in
through the security hole in VM that has supposedly been fixed), also
despite not opening any attachments without scanning for viruses and
Trojans, nor opening any downloads without doing this, nor in fact clicking
on any pop-ups.
And it was most definitely NOT present on my machine prior to the last 2
weeks, and the last of my updates was done two months ago.
Does anyone out there know anything?

CoolWebSearch is very insidious and is installed by a large number of
web sites. They are constantly modifying the program so as to evade
the spyware removal programs.

See MVP Jim Eshelman's web page "The Parasite Fight" at
http://www.aumha.org/a/parasite.htm for more detailed info.

Good luck
