Cut, Copy, Paste in EXCEL VERY SLOW

Using a macro that cuts and pastes data to differing
locations. When the Selection.Copy runs it is VERY SLOW, as
in over 60 seconds for every operations. The paste
portion is almost instantaneous. On a small spreadsheet,
IE 15 to 20 lines with 45 to 60 Cut and paste operations,
before SP3 and the RPC hotfix would run in about 2 to 3
minutes. At 45 minutes today 7 of the 20 rows had been
processed. Any Ideas? Is this a know issue. Right
click/copy and Ctrl C also exhibit the same slow response.

I suspect you are selecting>copying>selecting>pasting and also have
calculation and screenupdating on.
try
application.screenupdating=false
appllication.calculation=xlmanual
range("a1:a2").copy range("d1:d2")
or
range("d1:d2")=range("a1:a2")
applicaiton.calculation=xlautomatic
application.screenupdating=true

I had Screenupdating= false but tried the
calculation=xmanual.
Did not seem to help. Also this behavior happens outside
the Macros. When I do a Ctrl-C or Ctrl-X get same 45
seconds to 3 minute times to complete the clipboard
operation.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Gary,

I had a similar problem a few years back. What I did to solve the
problem (no issues since):

(1) Created a new workbook immediately. This was an indication to me
that Excel was in the process of junking the file.

(2) Eliminated all the cut-copy-paste routines. Use assignment
statements to transfer data from one place to another. Then, if
necessary, cleared ranges.
