If you got Word as part of Works Suite, this is one of the many nasty habits
of the Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for Word. Uninstall the add-in through
Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs. Note that if you had Works Suite
installed before installing a full version of Office, Word will not have
been overwritten. For a number of reasons, it is a good idea to uninstall
the copy of Word that Works installed (this will not affect your Normal.dot
or other settings), then reinstall it from Office.

Why does the data I put on the clipboard from IE 6.0 or other applications
get wiped out when I start Word 2000 V 9.0.3821 SR-1? If Word is already
open, then the cut and paste works, but if I have to start Word, the
clipboard appears to get cleared. Excel 2000 works the way it should, in my
opinion. I can cut and past from other applications to Excel whether or not
Excel is already running. Is there a way to get Microsoft to change the
behavior of Word? Or, is there a "trick" I'm not aware of? Thanks in
advance for any advice.
