Customizing Open Menu

Hi,

there are a few options on applications' open menu under windows XP like "
Desktop,My Documents,My Computer & Etc." ,some applications let you to
change this menu like AutoCAD but some others like excel for example doesn't
let you to modify it.
Is there any way to add / remove these options any where inside the windows
(like registry or any directories) ?
