Customize Outlook Today button no longer functions.

My 'Customize Outlook Today' button in Outlook 2000 no longer functions. The
button outline appears as I hover over it and the usual dotted outline
indicating it is selected appears when it is 'pressed', but there is no
firther response. How can I correct the situation so that it once more
responds?
