Customize auto action?

Is there a way to customize the program that comes up when you insert a cd
or media card?
I'd like it to prompt me to create a folder & then copy those images ito it,
appending the name of the images with the folder name.
Like the folder could be named xyz & all images copied to it would be
xyz-01, xyx-02 & so on.
Is this possible & if so, how?

It's called an autoplay handler. If you write or have someone write a
program that does what you are asking then it can be added as a handler
and set as default for that CD for autoplay.

What would it be written in?
I've always wanted to learn programming-is this a monumental
undertaking, or something that a beginner could fumble his way through?
