Any help appreciated.

Your My Documents should NOT have a Customize tab on My Documents
Properties.

"You cannot customize the My Documents, My Pictures, and My Music folders.
However, you can customize the folders they contain." from ... XP HELP

OK, but why has the other users and why does the "comment" suggest "contains
music and other files" which suggests a folder customised for music?

Mark,

It's a known issue. See here for resolution:

Common Tasks Don't Match Folder Type
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_common_tasks.htm

or

Keith Miller has a script that can fix the problem. Download "TaskPaneFix.zip" attachment from this newsgroup posting:
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.customize/msg/d7dd4582cc4b2e99

Shell folders don't have a customize tab. This is the case with all the user accounts.
