Custom Sorting

I have created a custom sort list to sort names in a certain order.
When I selected 20 rows in one column and sorted, it sorted correctly
keeping all the rows and columns moving together.
Now when I do the same thing, it only sorts the selected column and all the
other columns don't move.
Any ideas on how to correct this?
I want to select a column and click on the AZ sort button.

Always, always, always, always ... select the cells to be sorted *before*
you click <Data> <Sort>.
Never, never, never, never ... allow XL to select the range for you - and
*don't* use the sort icons on the tool bar.

That's the only way you'll be sure your sort includes the entire range that
you intend.

Hi Joe
Excel will only sort the area you have selected. The sort buttons will always sort by the first column in your selection. Your going to have to use the pulldown menu if you want to sort by a different column

Good Luck

Thanks RD. Sounds like the "smart" sort is not 100%.
You must have had a bad experience!

If you hang around these groups long enough, you become aware of "things"
that Redmond has left lacking, this being only one of many.
