Custom Fields

I have created a message form on which I have included
custom fields. In my manual, under the troubleshooting
section titled "My colleagues can't see the custom fields
in my forms", it says to make them visible you have to
select "send form definition" on the form properties page.

I did this, but when I send the message, those fields are
still not visible to the recipient. Even when I am
designing the form, those fields disappear when I change
from Edit Compose Page to Edit Read Page.

Why can't I get those fields to show up to the recipient?
The form is stored in my Personal Forms Library because
our system is not allowing me to store it elsewhere.
Still, selecting "send form definition" is supposed to
make those custom fields visible to recipients even if the
form is stored in your Personal Forms Library.

Your manual is both out of date and incomplete. The reason your colleagues
are not seeing the fields is that you never added them to the read layout.

If you have any code behind the form, checking the "send form definition
with item" box will guarantee that code doesn't run in any version of
Outlook from Outlook 2000 SP2 on.
 
Thank you, Sue. I should have mentioned we are using
Outlook 2000. Does this change things at all?

By "adding them to the read layout", that means I not only
have to add the fields on the Compose Page, I also have to
add them to the Read Page?

yes, you have to add fields to the read layout if you want them to be
visible.
