My custom dictionary is not loading when I start word. I can't seem to get it
to work. Does anyone know why?

Is it checked at Tools | Options | Spelling and Grammar: Custom
Dictionaries...?

You may need to pursue this inquiry in
microsoft.public.word.spelling.grammar.

Dear Suzanne,
I feel like I am a little slow, what actually happens is I get the message
Custom Dictionary C:windows\application data\microsoft\proof\custo is not
available and then when I click ok and spell check the document I am not able
to add words to the dictionary.
If you want me to go to: microsoft.public.word.spelling.grammar. where is
it? LOL
Thank you again

Ordinarily the default custom dictionary is called custom.dic, so I'm
confused about why your message would be referring to "custo." Could it be
that the name of your custom dictionary has gotten corrupted in the Tools |
Options dialog?
