Cursor crawls across screen

I'm running XP Home on a HP Pavilion 533w. My son received a Spongebob PC
game for Christmas. I installed it and tried to play. The hand quickly rolls
across the screen from right to left, making it impossible to play. The mouse
is fine in all other programs. I can't change the controller options in the
game...I already tried. I tried the program compatibility wizard and that
didn't help. What else can I do?
