Windows Media Player error message ID 0x c00d 116a. InterActual Player error message "playback failed due to a problem with the video subsystem." Audio CDs play fine. Changing screen resolution and color depth did not fix. Reseated connections to cd drive did not fix.

You stated "Reseated connections to cd drive did not fix." Do you have a DVD
player and software installed? You sure can't play a DVD on a CD player.

The drive is a combination cd/dvd drive and did worke fine as a cd and dvd player. But currently will not play DVDs.

DVDs will play if manually selected via: (start button) > (my computer) > (open dvd ROM) -with a disk loaded > (open video-ts folder) > (open video ifo file). -Video will now start to play. . Both media players are rejected when used to select and play the dvd. I am trying to find an answer from anybody out there .

I am having the same problem with intervideo. It says to try lowering
screen resolution ( _i'm at 800x600 now, and it won't accept 640x480)
or lower color depth (I'm at 16 bit, the next step down is 256). I am
surprised that with all the posts which have the same problem, no one
has posted a working solution.

My machine is win 98. I tried the steps you listed below but the
*.ifo file would not execute unless I associated it with something.
What program do you have it associated with?

I don't have much windows scholarship. If I find the solution, I'll
post it somewhere. Use google newsgroups search for "win 98 DVD
problem solved"
