Hi everyone,

I am working on a greenfield Windows 2003 network which I have just finished
designing.

As more hardware will be added to the network later on I was thinking on
implementing DFS as this will allow me to implement permissions once even
after the original files/folders have been moved to other servers.

Problem is I do not know anyone who has implemented DFS and I am looking for
some success/horror stories about it...

TIA,

J

For managing shares, and giving you the ability to move folders at a later
date without user disruption it is great. The AD version has some
limitations that you might not be aware of mind -it's no good for dynamic or
huge amounts of data for one. It can also go funny on inconsistent links.

I would definitely setup DFS early on, as it can also aid in DR -you can DR
user data to another box, redirect the DFS link and you've time to try and
fix your broken box for example...
