csv file import problem

I have many .csv files every month that I import into Excel to review.
Majority of the fields are aligned so that the data is in the correct column.
However there are always a number of rows in these .csv files that do not
align with the rest. I must then go in and manually put the fields in the
correct location. They are usually the same number of fields off but not
always such as the row starts in Column D instead of column A.
Is there some way I can do something to align these rows? I don't know if
there is something I can do before I import the file or if I need to do
something once it's in Excel.
I would appreciate any help you could give as this is a very time consuming
job.

If you can change the file extension to .TXT, when you oipen the *.txt file
you will get the Text Import Wizard where you can parse your data on the way
in.

Hey Gord~ This has got to be a neophytic question, but I remember when I
used to be able to right click and change the file extension. How do I
change the extension now once it is already saved with Excel WITHOUT opening
it?
 
r-click on the file in Windows Explorer.

Um... I said it won't let me. It turns out that you need to change the view
of the folder in order to get that option. Windows XP and Windows Vista
defaults to hiding the file extension.
