CSS Absolute Positioning

Just wondering whether I.E.6 supports CSS absolute positioning. I seem to
have a problem where it is ignored by I.E.6 but accepted by Netscape 7.1

Yes, IE 6 supports absolute positioning - examples here:

It does have some trouble with relative positioning, however, and that's
supposed to be fixed in IE 7 from what I've seen. But I'm no CSS expert.
The examples for both, here, work fine for me, however, in IE 6:
