almost every time I open up a program, IE tells me it has
experienced a problem and needs to shutdown, I used 3
different virus checkers, I am also running spybot and
adaware SE, none of these even notice that it is spyware
or a virus. When I try to end the process in taskmanager
it tells me it is critical process, and it won't
shutdown. There are 2 processes of csrss.exe running, one
of themis 3672k and the other is 6072k. I know this is a
MS program, but why would it come up every time I open a
program. Please help, thanks in advance.

I haven't seen an answer to this question. Has there
been any? I have a similar problem. I've done disc
clean/defrag already since installing sp2. That only
would work when I did what was suggested about the
registry extraction on the contents of compressed file
folder. I can't get any copy programs (DVD cloner II, or
Roxio) to work because of it ("it" being task manager
hang up with a number of different programs ....overwrite
buffer errors, etc. due to the task manager hanging up.)
My computer is an emachine (I know, I know - bad choice
in most everyone's opinion) T2865 AMD Athlon XP 2800+
have 512MB, 143 GB freed up to run these programs (with
everything shut down from start up menu) and it still has
overwrite buffer problems when I've cleaned it up prior
to this? I've added the programs to the exceptions list
to Windows firewall as suggested. Not shutting down but
getting hung up.......to the point that I have to unplug
it because ctl/alt/delete doesn't stop it! Activity in
the task manager even will show that it's 98% in sys
idle. Please help! The kids at emachines tech support
don't have a clue on their chat line! They gave me things
to try that were such a waste of time and resource! Like
a repair to XP (pre-sp2) I had to do a restore to repair
that one! I can't get a reply from Microsoft....I've
also lost all my outlook email files.....had to set up
new email, account .......it's been hours and hours of
fixing and patching and reloading drivers especially for
audio....a big fat mess and such a waste of time! I've
been able to fix most of it on my own but I'm stuck with
this problem not being able to copy DVD's/CD's since the
installation! I'm so frustrated.

But on to the solution! Is there any of you that know
enough about it before I begin laying out all the
details? Or know a good resource short of paying $30-50
dollars per incident?

Whoever made the comments or suggestion about seeing this
irritation as a learning curve....I agree to a point. I
sound almost like a geek when I'm asked about my computer
by my programmer friends (not really but they tell me
that).......and every bit of it came from the hours of
research I've done trying to correct this thing on my
own! I didn't want to have to do this today or yesterday
or all last week! I didn't want to be computer literate
to the point of being almost employable in the field
hahaha.......just tell me the answer and make it work is
the attitude I have and still have! That's where you can
differeniate between an opportunity for growth in
learning and a survival mechanism to get back to usual
business! It's not a choice it's a necessity to fix
this.....desired or not though, it has to get done like
it or not. AND darn, I hate asking for help when I'm
capable to learn new stuff.......but I'm really at my
wits end with this deal. Thank you for your help in
advance. God bless, Karen

Karen, it sounds like your problem is a lot worse than
mine, I have not lost any functionality, it is just
annoying having to close out thes popups every time I
want to open a program. But, I did notice you said you
have an emachine, just like me, maybe it has something to
do with emachines. BTW why does everybody groan when they
hear emachines, besides the lack of administrative
control.
