I think you also need a mac. 2001 is the mac version of PowerPoint

Really?? So, you can't have cross-fading for slides with Windows
Powerpoint? What about newest PowerPoint versions? I have just seen on the
M$ site that there are 2002 and 2003 versions of PowerPoint...

Or is there another presentation tool / image viewer that can do the cross-
fading between slides/images (for windows or linux)?

Thx!!!

Hi

you can do a cool cross-fading between slides when you have PowerPoint
2001 and Quicktime (http://www.macdevcenter.com/lpt/a/772).

You see the old slide while the new is transparent and becomes more and
more opaque gradually until you only see the new slide on the screen. That
looks really professional (better than the other silly transitions in
PowerPoint like "new slide flies in from the right etc").

I really want this cool cross-fading transition, but I have only
PowerPoint 2000, and *not* 2001.
Is there a possibility/plugin/extension for this old version?

Thanks,
Andi

Available in Version 2002 / 2003 as Fade Smoothly.

I see. I obtained a copy of the newest PowerPoint and saw the smoothing
effect.
But I have to say, it doesn't really run smoothly, and I have a 1 GHz and
400MB computer. You see several steps/stages of the fading, which really
should be one smooth fade where you don't see single steps. Thats
disappointing.

The effect "fade through black" is okay and smooth, but I think it is
annoying on the long run, because the screen goes through black between
each slide.

Anyway, thx for your answers!!

One more thing -- for these slow effects, I don't want to see them when I
go backward to a previous slide. Can I set this option somewhere?

Not that I'm aware.
