I keep getting emails from Microsoft advising me to
update by opening the attachment and following the
instructions. Unfortunately I cannot open the attachments
because the OE has rendered them unsafe. I can't find the
updates mentioned online. Help Please!

Be glad OE did this. These e-mails are *not* from Microsoft - they are the
result of a virus called SWEN - and the attachments will infect your
computer. Delete the messages and don't ever try to open those attachments -
in fact, unless you are *expecting* an attachment from someone, don't even
open attachments from people you know - many viruses spoof the sender.

Don't rely only on OE's attachment blocking - get good antivirus software
that can also scan mail, and keep it updated regularly.

You were sent a bogus email message from an imposter!

All legitimate updates for Windows XP should be downloaded
only from the Windows Update website:

It /is/ true what they say - there really *IS* one born every minute! Let me
guess - if you'd managed to run said attachment and found it had infected
your system, you'd have been back here berating MS for infecting your
system! ROTFLOL!!!
