the right click feature of windows fails to work.

I isolated this update through updating and removing updates one at a time.
this was the update that caused the problem.

after update, when I right click on any icon on desktop, the only response
is a permanent hour glass, no programs can be started. the only solution is
to use cntl-alt-del and log off or restart.

does any one know why this update would cause this problem

thanks

jon

Hi Jon,

For Pro: Go to Start/Run and type in: gpedit.msc
User Configuration/Windows Settings/Internet Explorer Mantainence/URLs. In
the right pane double click Important URL's.

Either uncheck all three boxes or fill them in correctly (Home Page, Search,
Support).

thanks I'll check with the person who is having this problem, to see if this
helps. I've had this problem in the past, but managed to fix, don't
remember how.

both updates cause problem.

I'm going to remove all third party services and background programs and see
if these updates still cause problem.

thanks

I removed all background programs, and all non windows services and tried
again, when I added the 821557 update. the problem with the right click
returns. there must be a bug in these updates. some part of them is
conflicting with some driver or some part of windows that I have installed
on my computer.

thanks
